Invisalign is known far and wide as the revolutionary clear aligners brand, represented by the likes of Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and even tennis star, Serena Williams!
But just what is Invisalign? Who is it for, and what can it fix? We answer all your burning questions about Invisalign in this week’s article!
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligners system designed to straighten teeth. It uses a series of clear, almost invisible plastic aligners to apply gentle pressure to shift your teeth into your desired position. Each new aligner moves your teeth closer and closer to where you want them to be.
Who Is Invisalign For?
Invisalign is for anyone who wants to straighten their teeth or close gaps. They’re especially popular with teenagers who are worried about the appearance of metal braces because they can’t be seen.
Invisalign only works in minor to moderate cases. Some, more complex cases may still require metal braces.
What Problems Can Be Fixed By Invisalign?
Invisalign can fix:
- Gaps
- Overcrowding
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Open bite
- Straighter teeth that aren’t quite perfect
How Do I Clean My Invisalign Clear Aligners?
You can clean your Invisalign by gently brushing them with a soft toothbrush. Deep clean your aligners using the Invisalign cleaning crystals from their store. Do not use any harsh chemicals on your aligners, and follow your dentist’s instructions to keep your aligners from yellowing.
When Do I Wear My Invisalign?
For your Invisalign to be effective, you’ll need to wear your aligners for around 23 hours a day. You should wear your aligners even when you sleep, and only take your aligners out to eat or to brush your teeth and clean your aligners.
How Long Does Invisalign Take?
Invialign takes around 6 months on average but can take longer. The more severe your case is, the longer it will take and the more aligners you will need.
Most people start to feel a difference in just 3 months, with noticeable results within 6 months.
If you’re hoping to get your teeth straightened for a big event, like your wedding, it’s a good idea to ask us about teeth straightening at least a year in advance so we can make sure you have the perfect smile for your special occasion!
How Do I Keep My Teeth From Moving Back After Invisalign?
After doing all that work to straighten your smile, you don’t want your teeth to move back into their old position.
Keep your teeth straight by wearing your Vivera retainers. Most people will only have to wear their retainers overnight, but your dentist can give you more options to suit your needs.
