Dr. Mahesh Popat
Dr. Mahesh Popat is one of the lovely dentists you might meet at our Oldham practice. He was born in Warrington and studied dentistry at the University of Manchester. He has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, using Invisalign, composite bonding, and porcelain veneers for full smile makeovers to give each patient a smile they can wear with confidence and pride.
He is currently studying for not one, but two post-graduate diplomas! One in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, and another in implant and restorative dentistry. He is excited to use his new skills to help as many patients as possible.
Mahesh has a series of steps for helping an anxious patient, the first of which is to listen to their concerns to put them at ease. Making sure the patient feels in control of treatment is also important, and he uses diagrams and videos to make the patient feel confident that they understand everything. Finally, Mahesh looks for something in common with all his patients, and finds something to joke about together.
Mahesh likes to use his skills as a dentist to help others, and has worked alongside charities in India providing dental care. He has also worked in Uganda, preforming research and helping to keep children off the streets. He enjoys world travel and has visited many countries, but would like to see even more of the world and do charity work in even more places.
Outside of work, Mahesh plays kabaddi – a sport so fierce it makes rugby seem tame in comparison! He is part of the international team representing England, and regularly travels to London for training and tournaments. He also likes football and supports Man United.
After a busy day, Mahesh sweats the stress away in the gym before heading home and practicing guitar. If he hadn’t been a dentist, he would’ve liked to start a band and go touring around the world, playing sell-out shows!
