The Doctor Of The Year category, sponsored by Synergy Dental -The Best Of Health Awards principal sponsor- is for the family doctor, GP, hospital doctor, surgeon, registrar or consultant-from the NHS or private sector who goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide the best service for all.
The category was won last year by Dr Karen Seal, clinical psychologist and lead physician at the NHS Blackpool and North Lancashire Eating Disorder Service, based on Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, who received two nominations.
The judges were impressed after reading how she helped change the life of a patient – a mother in her 50s who suffered from anorexia.
The patient told how she was “professional, caring, worked tirelessly, dedicated and compassionate” – all the qualities the judges felt a doctor should be.
