Dentists to get their teeth into Ben Nevis

Team will climb UK’s highest peak to raise money for charity.

Three dentists are swapping toothpicks for ice-picks to scale the country’s highest mountain.

Dr Zuber Bagasi, Dr Imran Chaddat, Dr Ramki Ginagunta will be joined by business manager, Hassan Mushaid, sports therapist, Arshad Hafeji, and head dental nurse, Bilal Adam, to raise money for a Third World charity, which brings relief from dental pain to some of the world’s poorest people.

Dr Bagasi, aged 31, from Lostock, is the founder of Synergy dental practices in Blackburn Road, Bolton and Tenterden Street in Bury. He also has clinics in Blackpool, Birmingham and Paisley in Renfrewshire.

Dr Chaddat, aged 25, is an associate dentist at the Bury practice and lives in Bolton, Dr . Ginagunta, aged 33, is also from Bolton and is head dentist at the Bury practice, and 27-year-old Dr Ai Ling Lim lives in Chorley and is head dentist at the Bolton surgery. The men are not experienced climbers but are working with sports therapist Arshad Hafezi, who has an osteopathic clinic in Bolton, to prepare for the trip on August 31, to climb the 4,409 foot Ben Nevis in Scotland’s Grampian mountains.

They will be accompanied by an experienced climber and are hoping to raise £5,000 for Bridge2Aid, which has been working in Tanzania for more than 10 years.

Dr Bagasi said: “We take accessible dental care so much for granted in this country without really understanding what it must be like to be in pain and have no hope of dental help. As dentists, we feel passionately that every person should be able to get this help and wanted to assist the charity’s practical work. Bridge2Aid does an amazing job of getting this aid directly to people, even in remote areas, and deserves our support.”

Dr Bagasi added: “It does seem rather daunting right now but we feel sure it will be a fantastic trip, and we’re determined to raise as much as we can.”
