“Same Day Implants” is a revolutionary treatment using dental implants to provide you with a full arch of fixed teeth. The treatment is also sometimes referred to as ‘All on 4’ or ‘Smile in a Day’. It’s a great option if you have missing/damaged teeth and wish to restore your old smile.
When restoring your smile with same day implants, we fit 4-6 high-grade titanium screws for lasting stability, then fix a bridge onto the implants – as the name suggests, we do this on the same day. This means you are not left without teeth, and never will be at any point of treatment*.
It normally takes 3 months for the dental implants to heal into the jawbone. In this time, you will always have a set of fixed teeth that you don’t need to take in and out, unlike dentures. After 3 months, we then engineer a new set of fixed teeth made from your choice of resin or ceramic. Your dentist will guide you on which option is best suited for you.

Same Day Implants in 5 simple steps
1. Consultation with the Implant Team
A comprehensive clinical examination will be performed by our Implant Surgeon to ensure the treatment is both right and safe for you. This includes an assessment of your medical history and dental history. As all our clinics are fully digital, we will perform a CT scan, digital scan and photograph your teeth, allowing us to evaluate your bone and teeth in 3 dimensions. With our latest technology, we will digitally design your new teeth and smile.
Normally, the treatment is performed under local anaesthetic, but if you are nervous about the implant placement you can choose to be placed under sedation. If you wish to be sedated for the procedure, we will perform a full assessment to ensure that you will be safe under sedation; this includes blood pressure, oxygen levels etc.
Once we have performed all the necessary tests, you will be emailed a full clinical report within 48 hours.
2. Consent appointment:
After having a few days to think, you will meet with the same implant team to discuss the options found in your clinical report. This is your chance to ask your surgeon any questions you may have. We want you to feel confident and trust us. Only when you are sure you are comfortable, will we book the appointment for the treatment.
This is also when we will arrange any finance options with you. We offer many options to ensure treatment is affordable for everyone. Our plans allow you to spread the cost for up to 5 years – you can use our cost calculator to work out your monthly payment costs.
We will provide a pre-surgery pack to guide you on what you need to do to get ready for your implant placement surgery whilst we handle all other necessary arrangements from our end.
You will be shown your new teeth design and how they look on your face and in your mouth. Once you are happy with this, your surgery day will be booked.
3. Implant-Placement Day:
This is the day you get your new smile! Today, you’ll be walking out the clinic doors with a new confidence. Here’s what to expect on the day:
Before your treatment, we will prepare the local anaesthetic or sedative (if chosen). You will be draped up along with the implant team. This ensures the environment is sterile, minimising the risk of infection and ensuring your safety.
The procedure then begins, and the implants are placed using a fully digitally guided approach to ensure the implants are accurately placed in the jaw. Your new teeth will be inserted, and you will leave the surgery with a set of fixed teeth whilst your implants heal. Whilst the process usually doesn’t take long, it can take up to 2 hours per jaw. Our main objective is your comfort and satisfaction, so you can always ask your surgeon about the estimated time your implants will take, and any other questions you may have.
Dental Photogrammetry
Once your implants are placed, your dentist will use our specialist 4D photogrammetry scanner to create a 3D model of your mouth and build your new smile in our digital software.
During your dental photogrammetry scan, all you will need to do is sit still in the dental chair whilst your dentist does all the work! This is entirely painless – in fact, your photogrammetry scan takes less than a minute!
Using the measurements from your scan, our dental photogrammetry software designs your new smile accurately to the micron to perfectly fit your mouth and your implant placement.
Then, it’s time to relax for a little whilst we print your new smile with our in-house 3D printing technology.
In as little as 1 hour, we’ll call you back to the chair to have your new teeth fitted – then you can go home and enjoy your new smile!
4. Review Appointment:
It takes 3-months for your implants to heal. Just like repairing a broken bone, your body needs time to fuse your new implants into your jaw. During this time you will still have your fixed bridge, so you are never without teeth.
In the first 2-4 weeks, you will have a check-in appointment with your implant team to ensure that the healing is taking place, and that you are able to maintain the implants by keeping them clean. This will be followed up by a second appointment a few weeks later to check everything is still going smoothly.
As always, you are free to ask any questions you may have, and if you have any concerns you can choose to book extra appointments. You are able to visit as many times as you want to give you peace of mind that the implants are healing. We will take a new scan of the healed gums to ensure that the final permanent fixed bridge is made to perfection.
5. Final Bridgework:
Whilst your dental implants heal and fuse with your jawbone, we’ll keep checking in with you to make sure your implants are healing properly.
After 3 months, your dental implants will be fully healed and we can fit your final, permanent teeth! The final bridge is made from a titanium backing and a polymer which resembles your natural teeth.
After-Care:
Even though your implant journey has ended, your life with your new smile has just begun. We encourage you to keep visiting us for your follow up appointments and maintenance.
As we are now familiar with your teeth, we will be able to provide the best possible care and you can rest easy knowing your new smile is in safe hands. We will continue to provide regular 3-month check-ups. These will include x-rays, cleaning, and maintenance to ensure your smile stays just as shiny as the day it was fitted.
