Dr. Aunkit Vaja

Dr Aunkit Vaja is one of our exceptional Synergy dentists at our Blackpool clinic, and has been part of our team since September 2016. He holds a BDS from Liverpool, and primarily practices general dentistry, but is also versed in smile makeovers using Invisalign and composite bonding.

He says the best thing about Synergy is working with a talented team every day, knowing he has his colleagues and a group of exceptional dental nurses behind him. As Blackpool is one of our biggest practices, knowing he has that support is vital to Aunkit. He is very highly organised and likes to know where everything is – his surgery room is like a second home to him.

Giving back to the community is a big motivator for Aunkit. He loves making a difference in Blackpool’s vibrant and diverse community and finds NHS work especially fulfilling, especially in cases where patients have struggled to find a dentist.

Aunkit is especially good at handling first dental visits for children and families. Many children find their first visit to the dentist distressing – it is a strange environment with strange people, and they can get quite upset, but visiting the dentist is necessary for a child’s oral health. When faced with nervous paediatric patients, Aunkit speaks to them just the same as he would speak to his own nieces and finds ways to make dental visits fun and relaxing; from giving out stickers to letting them watch Peppa Pig in the dental chair!

Outside of work, Aunkit enjoys finding good restaurants to eat delicious food, but balances being a foodie with plenty of exercise. He enjoys going to the gym and walking as well as a game of badminton or snooker. He’s also a big football fan and supports Liverpool.

Aunkit is also scientifically and mathematically gifted, and considered a career in finance before deciding on dentistry. He wanted a job that was hands-on, but more importantly, would allow him to help people. He likes that his work allows him to see people face to face every day and witness the change he brings to patient’s lives.
