What is a SynClean treatment?
SynClean is our very own scale and polish treatments which target plaque and tartar build up – the leading cause of gum disease.
By scaling down the tartar, the procedure can prevent the onset of disease and infection, leaving the mouth feeling healthy and bacteria-free. The full mouth polish will then leave teeth smooth and fresh.
The treatment process
During the session itself, the cleaning takes place on and around the teeth, above the gum line. This means that there should be no pain or tenderness felt during the session, but those with more sensitive gums may feel the treatment more than others.
After your session, your hygienist will discuss effective tooth maintenance, such as the correct brushing technique. Maintaining your teeth between sessions will prevent the build-up of tartar and help protect teeth from the onset of gum disease.

How often should I have a hygiene session?
During a dental consultation, your dentist will advise you on the number of hygiene visits you require. Those who frequently suffer from gum disease or experience rapid tartar buildup will require a session every 3 to 6 months.
If you miss a hygiene appointment it is highly recommended that you book another session as soon as possible. Although some patients only require hygiene treatments once each year, higher risk patients may encourage the onset of gum disease without the proper dental maintenance.
This can lead to Advanced Gum Disease if left untreated and may result in the extraction of an infected tooth if the disease begins to spread.
