World Book Day 2016

World Book Day 2016

World Book Day | Synergy Dental Clinics

World Book Day is upon us once more! Today, children and adults alike will be celebrating their favourite books and love of reading all over the globe.

In its 19th year, the celebration will once again be marked by the donation of approximately 14 million £1 book tokens in the UK which are provided by National Book Tokens – that’s one for every person under the age of 18! The book tokens can be taken to a participating book store to either buy an exclusive World Book Day book or receive £1 off any book. You can find out more at

And of course children (and adults) will be dressing up as their favourite literary characters in appreciation!

World Book Day got us thinking here at Synergy Dental HQ – what are some of the best dental related books out there for the younger generation to read?

Dr Seuss: The Tooth Book | World Book Day | Synergy Dental Clinics

The Tooth Book is the perfect guide to answering your child’s questions about their teeth in a humorous manner.  The lovely illustrations and questions which are organised are seamlessly joined to provide answers to questions such as ‘why are there teeth?’ and ‘how do peoples’ teeth work?’ At a time when your child is losing teeth and growing adult teeth, this book is a perfect mix between whimsy and factual information.

For the Young Adults (Ages 11+)

How to Rock Braces and Glasses – By Meg Haston

How To Rock Braces and Glasses | World Book Day | Synergy Dental Clinics

Set in America, Kacey Simon is at the top of the social ladder at Marquette Middle School. But when an eye infection and a visit to the dentist leave her with thick glasses, a mouth full of metal and a lisp, Kacey is dismissed by her friends, falling so far down the social ladder she can barely see the top, even with her magnifying specs. This book teaches young adults that not everything is bad and you can still be the coolest kid in school, even with braces!
